Reiki Research: Evidence Based Review
By Nancy Merrifield, RN, URMP, CCP

The most comprehensive review of all Reiki research published in a peer reviewed journal, since 1985, can be found on The Center for Reiki Research‘s website under integrative reviews.
The Center for Reiki Research promotes scientific awareness of evidence based Reiki research, conducts rigorous Reiki research and offers guidance and direction for those wanting to produce future studies. Their review, Baldwin Et Al, was published in the Holistic Nursing Practice Journal in 2010.
Although published, this review is an ongoing review and remains current. As additional studies are completed and published in peer reviewed journals, each goes through the Touchstone Process at the Center for Reiki Research which includes two peer reviews and a summary created from those reviews. The summary is then posted on the Center For Reiki Research website.
The outcome of this review has given the Center for Reiki Research's team direction as to what needs to be researched to prove or disprove the efficacy of Reiki. In addition to conducting their own research, they have a consulting team to help others in their design of rigorous Reiki studies. The Center for Reiki Research is an invaluable resource for those interested in reviewing or conducting well-designed Reiki studies.
