Why Coaching?
Nancy Merrifield RN, URMP, CCP
Coaching is for those who are serious about goal setting and achieving their dreams. Once you partner with a wellness coach, endless possibility opens. You easily see your personal path to successful goal achievement, wellness and life purpose. Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” You create with your coach, an action plan with timed, reasonable, attainable goals and achieve them, one by one. Then, naturally, along the way, you find that personal place of balance, harmony and abundance. You eat well; enjoy exercise, live stress free and maybe even learn about Reiki? You are a life coach success story. See life coach and Reiki discounts.
A recent American Psychology Association (APA) poll shows only 16% of those trying to make health related improvements are actually achieving their goals. The outcomes of the poll shows we need ongoing support to make permanent lifestyle and behavioral change. The data suggests that we gather supportive family members and friends around us when we are working on wellness, lifestyle or behavioral change. The data also suggests that coaching, supportive in nature, really does work.
Partnering with a wellness coach is the foundation for success. It starts the process of setting reasonable goals and taking action to achieve them. Having a coach means you are serious, organized and focused. You get frequent feedback and have accountability. If you do the work, you will reap success. Abe Brown says it best in his book Getting Where You Need To Go, partnering with a coach means you have a good idea where you are going and that you are getting where you need to go, ( Brown, Abe, Getting where you need to go, 2010).

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that increases your flow of life energy promoting relaxation and healing. Reiki works naturally on every level of who you are. It is a healing energy that addresses your mental, emotional, spiritual and etheric presence as well as your physical body, always working for the highest good and guided by the highest source. Reiki is not a religion or faith based. It is a method of bringing universal life energy, balance and peace to all who request it.
The American Heart Association reported in 2007 that Reiki is being practiced in over 15% of American hospitals . William Rand states that Reiki is being accepted by a large number of medical professionals as complimentary to the care of their patients (Rand, Wm. July 2007). Acceptance of Reiki by the medical community has promoted their involvement in Reiki research and more people are looking at the possibilities of Distant Reiki.
Distant Reiki is a method of healing and relaxation that is highly effective and easily achieved without the person receiving it being physically present. Reiki energy is not limited by time, space or distance. A Reiki Master in California can easily send Reiki energy to someone relaxing in the peaceful environment of their own home, thousands of miles away.
Reiki was discovered in Japan in 1922 and was brought to the United States in 1937, it has steadily progressed over time and is now accepted as an adjunct to conventional medical care. The benefits of Reiki are evolving into studies whose preliminary evidence is supportive of Reiki. Evidence that has gone through the touchstone process and a peer review conducted byThe Center for Reiki Research, a team of 7 PhDs working in the field of research and 5 RNs, all Reiki masters. They have not only done a comprehensive review of all of the Reiki research ever published in peer review journals, they are creating new studies and helping others develop studies that are well-designed and supportive of Reiki being an evidence based practice. Prelimonary evidence is showing that Reiki decreases stress, depression, anxiety, pain and symptoms of cognitive dyspfunction in mild alzheimers. Reiki has found a home in many hospice facilities and has brought much comfort to end of life care. Nurses receive educational credits for their training in Reiki.
Reiki is a journey into tranquility and relief from stress. Reiki and Distant Reiki are appreciated by those who are chronically ill or hospitalized. Preemie babies in the NICU as well as hospice patients seem to thrive on the peace and relaxation that comes with Reiki or Distant Reiki therapy. Many report that Reiki makes Chemotherapy tolerable... Consider a gift of Reiki to yourself or others. Reiki is best experienced once tried.
